Good afternoon!
My name is Elena Dmitrievna Kasatkina. I am a mother of three children and the grandmother of two charming granddaughters - Xenia and Sofia.
My profession is a teacher; I work with children in the Center of children's creativity, the city Mezhdurechensk.
I always liked to sew, knit, embroider and in the childhood adored to play with dolls, to sew clothes on them, to make furniture and small houses for dolls. I regret so much about that in the childhood I had not meet the master, the puppeteer, then I probably, would start to do dolls earlier.
As it is not strange, I have seen the first self-made dolls at Svetlana Gerasimova. They have subdued me by their originality. It seemed to me, that I never could do such dolls. I have made my first doll under her management. On this stage, my attempts to do dolls have ended, because it seemed to me very difficult to mould a head of dolls from clay, they did not turn out such as I would like.
It has not turned out to mould by hands – I tried other way - to do prints of heads from clay on store naked dolls. Children have brought old celluloid naked dolls and process has gone. The dolls, which were made in such a way, are still in my collection now. They have charming doll faces, but they all are practically identical. Then I have taken a great interest in textile dolls. I started from Russian zakrutka-dolls. Poor particles of the information, which could be found in the literature did not open manufacturing techniques, therefore it was necessary to reach everything independently, to try, experiment, find ways of the decision of problems. All was useful, that I was able to do earlier - to sew, knit, embroider. I do my dolls on a skeleton, therefore they are very plastic, dolls can give any pose, and they are easy in manufacturing. I like to sew clothes on dolls very much, but it has to be made only by hands, because the machine seam is very roughly looked and even ugly. With pleasure I finish bottom shirts and underwear with embroidery or a lace, I do tiny footwear for a doll. Sketches I practically never do, the doll is born with the help of hands, practically independently…
Recently, I have tried to paint the face and clothes of a doll with acrylic paints and on a fabric, in my opinion it had turned out not bad.
It would be desirable to be engaged more in dolls, but all free time is “eaten” with work. I wait impatiently summer holiday, when it will be possible to spread out working materials on a room, to create the creative disorder and to be engaged in favourite business – DOLLS…
